Internal filters come in different colours and shapes but the principle of the filtration method is the same, they have some sort of media housed in a canister with a motor on the top. The media is usually a form of sponge, it may contain a pre-filter pad as well as carbon. Most of the internal components are carried by us as a range of spares.
